 Kever Rachel Institutions

Rabbi Dovid Gabai, Shlita, opened the school (kollel) in Kever Rachel in year 5766 (2006). They study Torah during the second half of the night. The goal was to have Torah studied continuously at this holy site, which will surely bring blessings to all of Klal Yisrael.

The school  starts at 1:00 A.M. They begin their night with the Tikun Chatzos, a prayer that laments the grief of the Jewish nation and the holy Shechinah (Divine Presence).

Their mourning in this holy spot helps bring the Redemption, as the Talmud states (Ta'anis 30), "Anyone who bewails the destruction of Jerusalem, will merit to see its joy." And as the Navi Yirmiyahu concludes, "Thus says the Lord; The sorrow you have shown shall have its reward. They shall return from the enemy's land. There is hope for your future... Your children shall return to their own borders."

Kever Rachel is certainly the appropriate place, and midnight is the most favorable time, to bring about the Final Redemtpion (the geulah sheleimah) for the Jewish people. The Tikunei Zohar (ch. 6) and other sources, teach that the central resting place for the Shechina (Divine Presence) during the exile is Kever Rachel. It is therefore a wonderful place to pray and study Torah after midnight, the time that is renowned for annulling evil decrees.

Anyone who desires can receive all these benefits by making these students his emissaries, as Chazal (our Sages) said; 'shlucho shel adam k'moso' (the emissary is like the sender himself).

The presence of the kollel in Kever Rachel has brought relief and pleasure to the visitors to this holy spot, because it arranged a new, advanced heating system, and more seating availability, which the visitors to Kever Rachel appreciate.

The schools presence throughout the night in Kever Rachel has been one of the motives which brought about the recent development, permitting private vehicles to drive to Kever Rachel, and to enjoy the privilege of praying at her grave. Until recently, anyone who wanted to visit Kever Rachel needed to travel in an armored bus, with an Israeli soldier accompaniment, to protect them from the Arabs who live in the vicinity. The long hours waiting for the stifled armored bus to arrive deterred many people from going to Kever Rachel. But, as

But, as the school began to learn Torah throughout the night in Kever Rachel, and in merit of the various other activities which take place in this holy spot, the area has become a safer address.  Just as private vehicles are always permitted to travel to ma'aras hamachpeilah, now too, the doors are opened to Kever Rachel as well.

In the merit of the Torah and prayers in Kever Rachel, may we all merit the speedy redemption, with the arrival of Moshiach Tzidkeynu (the Messiah), speedily in our days.
